Disclaimer/Information: ฤอออออออออออออออออออออฤ This program is provided AS IS without any guarantee of any sort, expressed or implied! If something happens to your computer as a result of the use of this program, I release ALL responsiblity to YOU! This program has been tested on at least three different systems and seems to work well, but I say this JUST IN CASE there is a problem. You may NOT decompile or otherwise alter this program for ANY use. You may NOT edit or alter the display screens produced. The user will assume all risks of this software. The following file MUST be present in their unmodified form when and if you distribute this program... SECLVL.TXT <=== this text file with info about this program SECLVL.EXE <=== Spitfire SECURITY LEVEL CHECKER Version 3.2 program FILE_ID.DIZ <=== File Description for BBS's REGISTER.TXT <=== Registration form to be printed and filled out! If one or more files is missing or messed up, call SHARE-IT BBS! for a new copy (number is at the end of this file). Throughout this file, SECURITY LEVEL CHECKER is referred by its initials SLC and by the EXE file name of SECLVL, these all mean the SAME program! Registration Fee: ฤอออออออออออออออฤ Don't you hate having a really good program and then you see the author wants $20-$50 for it? I run a BBS and I often do not have that kind of money for a program, regardless of how 'GOOD' it may be. So, I am not here to do that to you. I am going to make this 'CHEAP-WARE' I suppose you could call it. The registration is really low and easy to do. Just print the registration form file and send the money. This program will cost you around a dollar or two. (You send $1 or more... that will do it). If you send cash (or check to Jim Mohr), you will call my BBS and download it from me with your BBS name/SysOp name embeded into the program. If you do not want to call, simply up the registration fee to $5 or more and I will mail you a NEW 3.5" high density disk with the program on it (the extra price is for the shipping and handling, you know). You are free to use SLC as long as you would like, provided you remember that it will say 'THIS BBS' instead of your BBS name. Setting Up: ฤอออออออออฤ Copy the program SECLVL.EXE to your Spitfire DISPLAY directory... Example: COPY SECLVL.EXE C:\SF\DISPLAY (This program creates the screen in the current directory, therefore it has to be copied to the Spitfire DISPLAY directory). Run SECLVL from your Spitfire DISPLAY directory... SECLVL.EXE The first screen you are presented with SHOULD be a big blue title screen. Just press ANY KEY to continue on to the editing screen... On the editing screen are many questions that you need to fill in... KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU MUST NOT EXCEED THE LIGHT GREY MARGINS SET (WITH AN ARROW)... If you exceed these margins, the information WILL be cut off! SECURITY LEVEL (1-999) ('Q' TO QUIT): On this line you enter an integer of 1 to 999 (this is the first part of the saved file... If you accidentally enter SYS instead of 999 for SysOp security the file will be saved SYSSEC.[BCR] instead of 999SEC. [BCR])! Enter the corresponding number of the security level you want to create the xxSEC.[BCR] screen for. Example: If you want to create a screen for security level 10, enter 10 here. NOTE: TO EXIT THIS PROGRAM enter a letter "Q" (without quotes)... This is the ONLY way to quit this setup program (other than CTRL+C). (3 Characters on this line, only) COMMENT ABOUT SECLVL: This line can be used to make some sort of comment abou the security level. Level 10 might be your unverified user, so you may enter UNVERIFIED USER SECURITY on this line! (35 Characters on this line, only) DWNLD/UPLD DESC/RATIO INFO: Download & upload description/ratio information. If you enforce a ratio of 1 to 5 for security level 10, you may want to enter a some- thing like 5 DOWNLOADS FOR EVERY 1 UPLOAD here. Or if you do NOT a ratio or want to enter something like NO RATIO you may! (31 Characters on this line, only) MINUTES ALLOWED PER DAY (EX. 15): Number of minutes you give your caller per day (not per call). If you want to write something like "UNLIMITED" for SysOp, there is enough space for you to do this. (10 Characters on this line, only) USE SUBSCRIPTION DATE CODE [Y/N]: Press the letter "Y" if you want to add the Spitfire subscription date code. This will add a line to the screen which says how many days the subscription has left. If you don't want this displayed or do not use subscriptions, you can type "N" for no. The information you entered above will be displayed under "DATA ENTERED" on the screen. Press any key to do the next security level... OR TO QUIT press any key and enter the letter "Q" (without quotes) as the security level. You can use the information contained in your DAILYLMT.DAT file to make sure that the information is correct. Minutes allowed per day is written in DAILYLMT.DAT file and you can look in their if you need to... It is in your C:\SF directory... Open DAILYLMT.DAT and goto the appropriate seclvl and see "MPD=xx" (xx=min. per day). This will help you IF you want to know exactly. Viewing ANSI/ASCII/RIP Screens: ฤอออออออออออออออออออออออออออออฤ To view the files, you can simply enter TYPE at the DOS prompt followed by the screen name. This works for CLR (ANSI) and the BBS (ASCII) versions of the screen. Example: TYPE 10SEC.CLR Example: TYPE 10SEC.BBS To view RIP screens, you will need a RIP screen viewer. If you have one enter its name (instead of the word TYPE) followed by the screen name with the RIP extention. You will see the RIP version with funny ANSI code characters in the WINDOW. There is nothing wrong with this. When running through Spitfire, the text will appear in FULL ANSI color. Example: VIEWTRIP 10SEC.RIP NOTE: When you view the CLR/BBS (Ansi/Ascii) files, they MAY look messed by ONE line where the download/upload information is. This is due to a display code Spitfire uses that causes DOS to jump down a line. The RIP screen may also look different on a viewer than when seen by a user. Summary: ฤออออออฤ Enter all the information asked of you on the information screen. DO NOT EXCEED THE MARGINS or the information WILL be cut off!! Read above for exact information!
